Esse texto, publicado em 2006 no Brasil, foi originalmente escrito como parte do relatório anual do Laboratório Dessin/Chantier destinado ao Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication, departamento do governo francês responsável pela educação na arquitetura, a fim de renovar as suas atividades. Por se tratar de um texto usado para contornar difíceis negociações, ele apresenta uma certa generalização e propositais limitações da linguagem. No entanto, tem grande relevância ao sistematizar a abordagem crítica que Sérgio Ferro trouxe de sua experiência brasileira para o ambiente de pesquisa da École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Grenoble. Ferro aponta as contradições estruturais que tanto a prática arquitetônica como a pesquisa realmente implicam, e explica o tipo de mudança epistemológica adotada para abordá-los no laboratório. É considerado um texto importante para a discussão das práticas experimentais no ambiente de formação ao colocar luz no programa e nas dimensões pedagógicas envolvidas. Para os pesquisadores do material é um texto que caminha ao lado de Michelangelo, arquiteto e escultor da Capela dos Médici, pois explicita as categorias de análise da forma usadas por ele, as quais fazem uma mediação entre a teoria marxista e as estratégias de análise das formas vindas da semiologia.

This text, published in 2006 in Brazil, was originally written as part of the annual report of the Dessin/Chantier Laboratory intended for the Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication, the French government department responsible for education in architecture, in order to renew its activities. Since this text was used to navigate difficult negotiations, it presents a certain generalization and deliberate limitations in language. However, it holds significant relevance by systematizing the critical approach that Sérgio Ferro brought from his Brazilian experience to the research environment of the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Grenoble. Ferro highlights the structural contradictions that both architectural practice and research inherently involve and explains the type of epistemological shift adopted to address these issues in the laboratory. It is considered a fundamental text for discussing experimental practices in the educational environment, as it sheds light on the program and the pedagogical dimensions involved. For researchers of the material, this text walks alongside ´Michelangelo, Architect and Sculptor of the Medici Chapel´, as it clarifies the categories of formal analysis used by Ferro, which mediate between Marxist theory and the strategies of form analysis derived from semiology.

Os textos disponíveis neste acervo foram preparados para as discussões ocorridas em encontros mensais do grupo TFTK, com a presença de convidados e, , em alguns, do próprio Sergio Ferro, entre os anos de 2021 e 2022. A iniciativa, denominada Grupos de Leitura (Reading Groups) teve como objetivo apoiar os trabalhos de tradução, coordenados pela Profa. Silke Kapp, Mariana Moura (PdRA), Ana Naomi de Sousa e Ellen Heyward (tradutoras), e a supervisão da Profa. Katie Lloyd Thomas.
Nesse sentido, tais textos foram editados pela equipe dos trabalhos de tradução, seguindo uma padronização específica e contendo numeração dos parágrafos, notas explicativas sobre termos ou excertos das edições. Alguns deles encontram-se separados por partes, de acordo com a sua complexidade e o tempo de discussão.
Cada texto foi discutido em duas reuniões - uma na língua inglesa e outra na língua portuguesa. Cada uma delas foi gravada e está disponível apenas para consulta no Acervo Sérgio Ferro (IAU USP).
Além de divulgar e promover a revisão dos textos traduzidos pela equipe do TF/TK, o objetivo dos encontros foi também disseminar e aprofundar o acúmulo sobre a obra de Sérgio Ferro em ambas as línguas; estruturar e desenvolver as discussões sobre o campo dos Estudos de Produção; e promover o intercâmbio entre os pesquisadores de língua inglesa e portuguesa, vinculados ao campo de Estudos da Produção. A cada encontro foram enviadas as versões em inglês e em português do texto selecionado aos participantes. A metodologia de organização dos grupos variou de acordo com a complexidade do texto e com o número de participantes.

The texts available in this collection were prepared for discussions held during the monthly meetings of the TFTK group, with invited guests and, in some cases, Sérgio Ferro himself, between 2021 and 2022. This initiative, called Reading Groups, aimed to support the translation work coordinated by Professor Silke Kapp, Mariana Moura (PdRA), Ana Naomi de Sousa, and Ellen Heyward (translators), under the supervision of Professor Katie Lloyd Thomas. In this regard, these texts were edited by the translation team, following a specific standardization, including paragraph numbering and explanatory notes on terms or excerpts from the editions. Some of the texts are divided into parts based on their complexity and the time allocated for discussion.
Each text was discussed in two groups—one in English and another in Portuguese—and both sessions were recorded and are available for consultation only in the Sérgio Ferro Archive (IAU USP). In addition to promoting the review of the texts translated by the TF/TK team, the meetings also aimed to disseminate and deepen the understanding of Sérgio Ferro's work in both languages; to structure and develop discussions within the field of Production Studies; and to foster exchange between English- and Portuguese-speaking researchers engaged in the field of Production Studies. For each meeting, both the English and Portuguese versions of the selected text were sent to the participants. The group organization methodology varied according to the text's complexity and the number of participants.
