The text is the transcription of three lectures by Sérgio Ferro given at FAU USP in 2004, so it was published before the collection of texts Architecture and Free Work, organized by Pedro Arantes. At that time, there were no comprehensive publications on his production, especially on his production in France. The aim of the lectures was to systematize a long-term perspective of the History of Architecture from production, that is, architecture inserted in the field of construction, and in turn, within the field of political economy. The text had a limited distribution as it was published by GFAU students; however, it is a text with a more palatable language, precisely because of the colloquial tone of the lectures. The event where the lectures were given was promoted by the Department of History of Architecture and Project Aesthetics and the São Paulo section of the Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB). The first, "From Strasbourg to Paris," took place on April 20, 2004; the second, "From Paris to Dubai," on April 26, 2004, and the third, "The case of art," on April 27, 2004.
